Emotional Support Animal ID Cards are customized badges for your emotional support animal to identify them as they work. These cards are fully customized for you and your emotional support animal and printed directly on high quality, durable plastic similar to what many companies use for work badges.
Emotional support animals are different from service animals in that they have not been specially trained to perform a specific task for their owner/handler. They are used by individuals with mental-health related issues and generally been prescribed by a doctor or other mental-health professional. Because they are not specifically trained to perform tasks like service animals, they are not entitled to the same level of accommodations as service animals (such as being allowed in restaurants). They are, however, allowed certain accommodations in travel and housing, provided the owner/handler can provide documentation from their mental health care provider.
Traveling with your Emotional Support Animal?
All airlines in the USA are required to accept most emotional support animals for carriage in the cabin for no additional cost. To bring an emotional support animal into the cabin, passengers should be prepared to provide current documentation on a mental-health professional's letterhead stating that: (1) the passenger has a mental-health-related disability and (2) having the animal accompany the passenger is necessary to the passenger's mental health or treatment or to assist the passenger with his or her disability and (3) that the individual providing the assessment of the passenger is a licensed mental-health professional and the passenger is under his or her professional care.
Please keeping in mind that emotional support animals must be trained and behave properly within the airport and on the aircraft. Passengers traveling with an emotional support animal cannot sit in an emergency exit seat.
If you have an emotional support animal, our ID cards can help make your travel easier.
The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act protect the print of people with disabilities to keep emotional support animals, even with a landlord's policy explicitly prohibits pets. Because emotional support and are not "pets" per se, the law generally requires landlords to make exception to any "no pets" policy as long as the tenant has a letter or prescription on official letterhead that documents that the persons meets the definition of a person with a disability, and he/she is entitled to a reasonable accommodation that would allow an emotional support animal in the apartment.
